JOE STANKUS is a Brooklyn based writer/director. He enjoys working in both narrative and documentary filmmaking but is especially fond of the blurry area in between.

His shorts have screened at The New York Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Maryland Film Festival, Cucalorus, and Doc NYC. His work has also been featured on The Criterion Channel and online at Short of the Week, Le Cinema Club, NoBudge and as Vimeo Staff Picks. His feature script, Capitaland, was a semi-finalist in the Stowe Story Labs and top 10% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship.

 

Joe holds an MFA in film directing from Brooklyn College's Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema and is an alumnus of the New York Film Festival Artist Academy and The Gotham Fiction Filmmaking labs.
